Alum sat straight up in bed. She had awoken in the night to the sound of screaming and glass shattering. Now that she was a wake she could also smell smoke and the sweltering heat of a fire.
“Nik get up!” she screamed to the bed next to hers as she jumped out of bed and grabbed her lance
